Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Calgary region. Reporting to the Regional Controller and working within a performance-oriented culture, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the consistent and accurate implementation of financial and accounting policies. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting by ensuring all reports are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, GL closings, and balance sheet reconciliations

Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP

Generate monthly financial reports for the Regional Controller and management

Support budgeting, profit planning, cash flow forecasting, and strategic planning

Analyze financial and operational results; report variances to the Regional Controller

Prepare internal financial statements in compliance with ASPE

Coordinate with external auditors during year-end audits and improve procedures

Compile year-end tax documentation for Corporate office

Research accounting policies and assess impacts on internal reporting

Your strengths include:

Bachelor’s degree and CPA designation (equivalent experience may be considered)

5+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within the real estate/land development industry;

Thorough and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of GAAP/ASPE, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, and tax;

Experience working with ERP systems, ideally with JD Edwards/Oracle
