Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Calgary region. Reporting to the Regional Controller and working within a performance‑oriented culture, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the consistent and accurate implementation of financial and accounting policies. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting by ensuring all reports are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.

• Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, GL closings, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP
• Generate monthly financial reports for the Regional Controller and management
• Support budgeting, profit planning, cash flow forecasting, and strategic planning
• Analyze financial and operational results; report variances to the Regional Controller
• Prepare internal financial statements in compliance with ASPE
• Coordinate with external auditors during year‑end audits and improve procedures
• Compile year‑end tax documentation for Corporate office
• Research accounting policies and assess impacts on internal reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within the real estate/land development industry
• Thorough and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of GAAP/ASPE, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, and tax
• Experience working with ERP systems, ideally with JD Edwards/Oracle
