- Conduct thorough clinical evaluations of patients presenting with respiratory symptoms, utilizing medical terminology and physiology knowledge to establish accurate diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for conditions such as asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, sleep apnea, and other pulmonary disorders.
- Perform diagnostic procedures including pulmonary function tests, bronchoscopies, and interpret imaging studies such as CT scans and medical imaging relevant to respiratory health.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiologists, cardiologists, neurologists, and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or EMR systems to document patient assessments, treatment progress, and discharge planning accurately.
- Engage in clinical research initiatives to advance pulmonary medicine practices and contribute to ongoing medical trials.
- Provide patient education on disease management, smoking cessation programs, and health coaching to promote long‑term wellness.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols during all procedures and patient interactions.
- Participate in hospital or Level I trauma center activities, triage critically ill patients requiring urgent respiratory intervention or post‑operative care.
- Support post‑acute care planning for discharged patients with chronic respiratory conditions or those requiring hospice & palliative medicine services.
Candidates should possess extensive experience in pulmonology with demonstrated proficiency in critical care experience, airway management, and ventilator support. Prior hospital experience in inpatient settings is highly desirable, along with familiarity using diagnostic radiology tools such as CT scans for pulmonary evaluation. Experience working within Level II trauma centers or emergency medicine environments will be advantageous. Knowledge of interventional radiography procedures like catheterization or neurocritical care is a plus.
Candidates must have a strong foundation in medical terminology, CPT coding for procedures performed, and proficiency with EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms. Additional desirable skills include familiarity with sleep medicine practices, infectious disease care related to respiratory illnesses, and involvement in clinical trials or research projects related to pulmonology.
