Position: Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavator / Dozer (Quarry)

Overview

Saiia Construction Company LLC, a Mas Tec company, is hiring night experienced Heavy Equipment Operators with Excavator (mass production experience) and Dozer experience for a night shift quarry environment in the Calera, AL area.

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment including excavator, dozers, graders, dump trucks, front-end loaders, compactors, scrapers, and water trucks to move material to and from designated areas, participate in required training and ensure all established safety rules, procedures, policies, OSHA and MSHA regulations are followed.

Responsibilities
  • Operate excavator to dig holes, trenches and remove earth, gravel, sand and rock, load and dump materials, use GPS grade technology as needed.
  • Operate bulldozer or grader to level, distribute soil, sand, rock, gravel and industrial byproducts, push or clear trees and rocks, maneuver attachments, and use GPS grade technology as needed.
  • Operate dump truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, soil, rock, gravel, coal, ore and industrial byproducts, pull levers to tilt body and dump contents, and move forward and backward.
  • Operate scraper/tractor to move, haul and grade earth on construction sites, control loading gate, adjust depth of cut, raise and close filled pan or bowl, spread or dump earth, connect hydraulic hoses and power takeoff shaft, and control tool bars, carriers and disks.
  • Operate water truck to transport water for construction projects, fill and transport potable water to crews, and drive a truck equipped with a sprinkling attachment to spray water on roadways to control dust, perform inspections, service and adjust the water truck, and lift/move transported materials as needed.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, MSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.
  • Approach and complete work in a meticulous, thorough, and timely manner.
