System One is currently seeking an
Environmental Specialist
on a 5 month contract position located in Calera, AL.

Environmental Specialist Responsibilities:

• Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including air quality, water quality, waste management, and hazardous materials handling.
• Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay updated on evolving environmental regulations and proactively implement necessary changes.

Environmental Specialist Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Project management skills with the ability to participate in a team setting on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders.
• Proficiency in environmental management software and data analysis tools.
• Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are a plus.
• Physical ability to climb stairs.
• Physical ability to pull up 50 pounds of equipment up to height using ropes.
• Must be able to work at heights up to and exceeding 100 feet from grade.
• Competent with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel software.
• Must be able to use tools to fabricate simple mechanical systems.
• Must be able to pull and back a trailer. Must be able to work in hot work areas.
