Under direct supervision and following prescribed procedures secures cost effective transportation from different sources (company fleet, contract carriers, and single source lessors) to meet customer's needs while maintaining profitability targets.

• Identifies and implements scheduling of carriers on round trip and continuous moves in order to increase profitability. Within established guidelines, agrees to freight rates and service commitments with outside carriers, selects carrier from pool of approved carriers and administers all shipping and billing transactions per established procedures.
• Monitors tracking, tracing and troubleshooting all issues with regard to rail & Simplot fleet assets.
• Responsible for generating, obtaining and providing various required export documentation, securing Steamship Line container bookings, submitting customs filings, and managing the movement of our export products to the ports to be exported overseas.
• Responsible for soliciting/receiving customer orders and then processing orders through information systems. Resolves problems with shipments including service delays and freight claims. Responsible for soliciting new carriers for specific traffic lanes and geographic areas.

High School Diploma OR GED

2+ years related experience and/or training

• Must be open to working Days/Nights & 8hr/12hr shift rotation cycles with direct team members.

This is an entry level position to the Transportation Coordinator job family requiring:

• A basic knowledge of transportation.
• Applies basic skills and procedures in Transportation.
• Duties and tasks are standardized.
• Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of personal computers.
