This position is seasonal and located at the Caldwell Memorial Pool.
The City of Caldwell Pool is looking for an Assistant Pool Manager to join their team. This position assists the pool manager in the daily operation of the aquatic facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons; supervises lifeguards, swim instructors, and cashier staff; supports swim lesson programming; and helps ensure compliance with American Red Cross standards and local policies.
This position is part-time, seasonal and located at Caldwell Memorial Pool. This position works under general supervision of the Pool Manager while exercising independent judgment during assigned shifts. This position is required to perform emergency medical and lifesaving activities. The principal duties of this position are performed indoors as well as in an outdoor environment, which may involve adverse weather conditions and related hazards.
- Enforces pool rules and facility policies. Supports emergency action plans. Addresses unsafe behaviors and has authority to ask patrons to leave the facility. May act as Pool Manager designee during the absence of the Pool Manager.
- Assists with daily admissions, lesson registrations, cashiering duties, and preparing daily deposits. Coordinates swim lessons, evaluations, testing, progress reports, and certificates. Provides customer service to patrons, responds to questions, concerns, and incidents in a professional manner.
- Supervises lifeguards and swim instructor staff. Provides on-deck leadership and guidance. Assists in scheduling staff, monitoring attendance, and reviewing employee time records. Supports staff training, safety drills, and in-service sessions consistent with Red Cross standards. Ensures staff maintain certifications and assists with recordkeeping.
- Monitors pool chemistry, assists with water testing, and reports maintenance issues. Maintains a safe and clean pool deck, office, and storage areas. Maintains safety, chemical, fecal incidents, and operational logs and binders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- One year’s experience in an aquatic facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
- Valid and current driver’s license
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification, including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug testing to include prescription medications.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification.
- Ability to obtain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification.
- Experience assisting with staff scheduling or training.
- Prior experience in a lead lifeguard or head instructor role.
