Starting Pay: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour + bonuses.

Schedule: Monday - Friday with occasional weekends.

The Quality Assurance Technician (QA Tech.) tests, inspects and facilitates raw material receiving and in-process inspection. You monitor the production and test processes with the objective of compliance with written procedures. Your job is o interpret documentation and spec sheets, work instructions, and confer with production and management staff to define and update the applicable food safety and quality standards or documents.

This position is also responsible for maintaining the calibration system and performing designated calibrations per internal procedures. The Food Plant QA Tech will also function as a trained internal/supplier auditor.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform incoming inspections and analysis on raw materials and components according to written procedures and specification
  • Oversee “on hold” product program and release/destroy rejected products.
  • Strict adherence of good laboratory practices following implemented programs (GMPs, Good Hygiene Practices, HACCP, Allergen Control, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Control, Equipment Calibration, USDA certification, FDA certification, etc.) and ensuring all personnel are also following the same established standards.
  • Routinely audit implemented programs for compliance.
  • Ensure all food safety measures are strictly followed.
  • Use inspection tools and laboratory equipment.
  • Follow all other testing procedures as assigned.
  • Ensure proper retention samples are pulled for all products.
  • Revise Standard Operating Procedure when necessary.
  • Manage and maintain the QA Laboratory
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
  • Maintain a fair and professional work environment that focuses on business objectives but also balances quality of work-life factors for employees.

Working Conditions:

This role requires a significant amount of movement to meet sanitation standards. The position will require general physical movements such as frequent walking, standing, lifting, bending, twisting, and reaching. Environmental conditions include cold, wet, allergen, noise, and fumes / chemical / odor exposure from raw materials and sanitation chemicals.

Skills/

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or the equivalent
  • Quality Control: 1 year (required)
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office experience
  • Ability to follow Food Safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Ability to take both verbal and written direction
  • Ability to utilize analytical lab equipment and interpret results
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Ability to communicate issues to a group of individuals as necessary
  • Ability to document issues using provided computer programing
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Basic math skills
  • A history of being a team player to achieve overall goals
