Position Summary
The Director of Business Operations oversees Barefoot Media Ministries’ financial systems, business processes, and overall organizational health — managing cash flow, reporting, budgeting, and strategy to support long‑term sustainability.
This full‑time position is both an implementation of existing processes and the visioning of how to lead Barefoot Media Ministries into a top performing ministry that sets standards for ministries as well as traditional businesses. They are to help lead the President in this vision.
The Director of Business Operations reports directly to the President of Barefoot Media Ministries and works in collaboration and accountability with:
The Board Chairman (Vice President for Administration, Idaho Conference of Seventh‑day Adventists)
The Vice President for Finance of the Idaho Conference of Seventh‑day Adventists
The Barefoot Operating Board and Board of Directors
This position functions as a bridge between operational execution and strategic oversight, ensuring financial and organizational integrity during and after the restructuring process.
Operational ImpactThis position ensures Barefoot Media Ministries operates with excellence and integrity, enabling every dollar and decision to fuel our mission of hope through media.
Specific Responsibilities- Provide monthly financial and budget reports to staff, president, board chairman, and board.
- Partner with the President of Barefoot Media Ministries to review financial status and business health.
- As Barefoot Media Ministries grows, lead out in making sure financial and best practices are followed.
- Manage all financial systems, including accounts payable, accounts receivables, deposits, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and accounting.
- Provide direction and management to achieve the financial and structural goals of Barefoot Media Ministries.
- Take the lead in developing the new 501(c)(3), including negotiating the transition details with vendors, as well as creating financial systems, building the business structure, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure timely monthly close and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop and monitor annual budgets aligned with ministry goals.
- Identify cost‑saving or revenue‑enhancing opportunities without compromising mission impact.
- Lead preparation for annual audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support Barefoot specific HR processes and, after restructuring, include payroll, benefits administration, and onboarding.
- Maintain and negotiate contracts, ensuring risk management and legal compliance.
- Oversee cash flow and assist in making financial decisions.
- Regularly review financial status and business health with the VP for Finance of the Idaho Conference of SDA.
- Ensure adherence to financial best practices as the ministry grows.
- Responsible for oversight of contracts and working with legal teams.
- Oversee and/or participate in other areas of BFMM as needed.

- Professional
Qualifications:
MBA or CPA preferred; 3+ years in nonprofit or corporate financial management;
Experience in accounting and financial budgeting and oversight;
Experience in management, HR, budgeting, and business operations preferred; A deep love of the business end of ministry and the ability to see business practices as integral to the completion of mission;
Demonstrated success leading through organizational change or startup/transition. - Personal Strengths: Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail and follow‑through;
Collaborative, coachable, and able to manage sensitive information discreetly;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Self‑starter with high initiative;
Valid driver’s license (ability to lift 50 lbs optional unless essential).
