Qualifications

  • A Diploma / Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification
  • Knowledge of the current social care legislative framework and national drivers within social work and social care including Social Services and Wellbeing Act Wales (2014), Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity, Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and Deprivation of Liberty safeguards.
  • Significant post qualifying social work experience within a social work team.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit clients and attend meetings.
  • You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).
  • The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.
Job Description

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organisation. We pay an attractive salary of £42,839 - £46,142 and offer access to training and development opportunities. The Team is based at Mill Road in Caerphilly and works with service users aged 18 and over who have mental health needs. The team is multi-disciplinary, dynamic and forward thinking and the successful candidate will be required to practice in accordance with National Occupational Standards for Social Work and Code of Practice for Social Care Workers to deliver assessment and care management services.

You will also be required to work closely with carers, other professionals and team members or alone using your own initiative. You will have a varied role and have the ability to deal with crisis situations and will be expected to facilitate safe discharge for service users from hospital into the community. You will be required to support and safeguard vulnerable service users through difficult periods in their lives, therefore effective communication and organisational skills are essential.

If you do not hold the Approved Mental Health Professional Award you will be expected to undertake this training in order to fulfil the role. Once in receipt of the AMHP qualification you will be paid a market supplement of £2,995 per annum for partaking on the AMHP rota.
