Qualifications (essential):
- Education up to GCSE level with 'C' or higher in Welsh, English and Mathematics.
- Degree educated (or equivalent) in a relevant IT discipline or experience in dealing with the Local Government Pension Scheme.
- Knowledge of computer databases including data manipulation and interrogation.
- Experienced in the use of computer packages especially Microsoft Office.
- Experience of administering a computerised database system.
- Strong numerical skills, good communication skills, ability to quickly absorb complex information, meet deadlines and targets, strong team working skills, good attention to detail, strong presentation skills.
Qualifications (desirable):
- 'A' level in mathematics.
- Familiar with the pension field in general and experience of the Local Government Pension Scheme area advantage.
- Relevant experience.

Purpose of the post:
- Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
- Assist in the provision of an effective and efficient pension administration service for the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Main duties:
- Work directly with the Systems and Special Projects Team Leader to ensure systems run timely, accurately and cost‑effectively, resolving issues with providers and implementing developments under the direction of the Pensions Manager.
- Day‑to‑day management of the pensions administration system and improvements, including i‑Connect data exchange, member self‑service systems and death screening, and administration of the National NI Database and Tell Us Once.
- Maintain the Pension Fund's computerised administrative systems – research, test and continuously monitor developments to maximize system potential.
- Maintain the Pension Fund website.
- Pre‑load checks of information received from scheme’s employer payroll software via i‑connect data exchange to ensure correct membership and benefit changes.
- Maintain monthly operational reports, including the NI National Database, publish termination reports for HMRC and resolve queries.
- Manage member access to the member self‑service system, ensuring compliance and resolving arising issues.
- Provide reports on employer information to monitor key performance indicators as per the Performance and Action Plan.
- Assist with research, analysis and development of the Pension Fund’s workflow system to meet performance targets.
- Train and mentor Pension Fund staff to maintain required standards and meet workloads and targets.
- Assist with the annual year‑end exercise and provide accurate data for each three‑year valuation.
- Correctly implement the annual Pension Increase review in accordance with Pension Increase Orders.
- Support special projects such as McCloud judgment or Pensions Dashboard.
- Administer the Annual Statement of Benefits exercise for all scheme members in line with disclosure requirements.
- Provide timely statistical information to the Pensions Manager, ensuring service level agreement targets are met and annual report and audit of the Pension Fund are supported.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of pensions legislation relating to membership eligibility within the Local Government Pension Scheme.
- Manage information in accordance with Council information management guidelines and Data Protection legislation.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules and uphold equal opportunities and equality policies.
- Commit to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions and encourage others to act positively on the Carbon Footprint.
- Undertake any other reasonable duty correlating with the salary level and responsibility of the role.
- Report any concerns or suspicions of abuse of children or vulnerable adults.
- Work outside normal office hours when required to support services at risk.
