Mechanical Fitter

Sphere Solutions are working with a leading Generator Installation Company who are seeking to recruit several Mechanical Fitters/Snagging Technicians in the Newport Area.

The Mechanical Snagging Technician will support the final inspection, snagging, and finishing of acoustic enclosures installed on generator sets at customer sites. Working as part of a site team, you will ensure all mechanical elements are completed to a high standard, rectifying defects and ensuring installations meet quality, safety, and client expectations prior to handover. This role is well suited to experienced Mechanical Fitters or Installers who take pride in detail, quality, and finishing works.

• Carry out on-site snagging and remedial works on acoustic enclosures and attenuation systems fitted to generator sets.
• Inspect mechanical installations to identify defects, omissions, or non-conformances against drawings and specifications.
• Adjust, align, and secure panels, doors, louvres, seals, fixings, and internal components to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Ensure acoustic covers are mechanically complete, correctly assembled, and fit for final handover.
• Work from engineering drawings, snag lists, and quality check documentation.
• Replace, repair, or re-fit components where required, using the correct tools, fixings, and methods.
• Liaise with Site Managers, Commissioning Engineers, and Project Teams to resolve issues efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of snagging works completed and outstanding actions.
  
  Ensure all works comply with Wilmott Group procedures and ISO
  9001, ISO
  45001, and ISO
  14001 standards.
• Follow all Health & Safety requirements, including correct use of PPE at all times.
• Safely use access equipment such as scissor lifts, cranes, and forklifts when required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional working environment on site.
• Remain flexible to travel to multiple sites and adapt to changing site priorities and schedules.

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Installer, or Assembly Technician within industrial, construction, or manufacturing environments.
• Experience working with large fabricated structures, enclosures, or mechanical assemblies (acoustic enclosures, plant rooms, generator sets, or similar).
• Strong eye for detail and pride in producing high-quality, finished work.
• Confident working independently on site while communicating clearly with wider project teams.
