Are you a newly qualified Speech and Language Therapist looking to start your career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment?

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Band 5 SLT to join our Adult Community and Outpatient Speech and Language Therapy team within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

This post provides a well-balanced and supportive start to your career, with experience across a range of settings and clinical presentations.

You will work in outpatient clinics in Gwent and in patients' own homes as part of the Blaenau Gwent Community Resource Team, allowing you to develop confidence in both clinic-based and community interventions.

Our clinical and professional leadership team continues to develop service quality, embed best practice and enhance access to specialist assessment pathways, including VFSS.

We are passionate about developing our staff. You will benefit from structured supervision, support ongoing learning through CPD opportunities, peer support, professional networks and access to postgraduate development opportunities.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver a range of interventions for adults with speech, language and communication needs related to a variety of acquired conditions including Parkinson's Disease, stroke and dementia. This includes individual and group interventions.

The role offers the opportunity to work with individuals in environments that are meaningful to them, supporting goals that genuinely matter in their daily lives. You will contribute to holistic assessment and intervention focusing on communication, wellbeing, independence and self-management.

You will be part of a supportive Speech and Language Therapy team and a wider multi-disciplinary team committed to person-centred, evidence-based care. This post provides an excellent foundation for developing core clinical skills and confidence in managing a varied adult caseload.

Person Specification Qualifications and/or Knowledge
  • Speech and Language Therapy Degree. Registered with HCPC Member of RCSLT. Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools. Knowledge of specific assessment/treatment tools for complex needs
  • Some Research methodology/ clinical audit training. Knowledge of clinical governance issues. Knowledge of national policies in Health and/or Education. Reflective practice theory
Experience
  • A range of clinical placements
  • Experience of working with a range of clients within a variety of settings. Experience of running therapy groups. Experience of working with multidisciplinary colleagues
Values
