We are recruiting a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work within an inclusive mainstream secondary school, supporting pupils aged 11–16 who require additional help with behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in learning.
This is a long-term, full-time role offering consistency, strong support, and the opportunity to make a real impact on pupils’ school experience.

The Role – Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who present challenging behaviour or SEMH needs, including:
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD and attention regulation difficulties
Anxiety and emotional dysregulation
Behaviour linked to additional learning needs
Your key responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small group behaviour support
Supporting pupils to regulate emotions and manage behaviour in lessons
Implementing behaviour support plans and strategies
Promoting positive behaviour, resilience, and engagement
Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times
Working closely with teachers, SENCo, and pastoral staff
Helping maintain a safe, consistent, and inclusive learning environment
This role is ideal for someone confident in behaviour management, de-escalation strategies, and building positive relationships with young people.

Aspiring teachers, behaviour mentors, or SEN professionals
Graduates in psychology, criminology, youth work, or education
Teaching Assistants with SEMH or behaviour support experience

What We’re Looking For
Experience or interest in behaviour support and SEMH
Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils (11–16)
A calm, resilient, and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to follow behaviour support plans and use initiative
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
Ability to provide two recent references
School-based experience is beneficial but not essential — training and ongoing support provided.
Pay & Contract
Full-time, Monday to Friday (term-time only)
£90–£110 per day (pay dependant on experience, and higher rate will be for leading classroom behaviour roles)
Weekly pay (PAYE)
Long-term role with temp-to-perm opportunities
