Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the building principal and the CTE instructor, the applicant will manage instruction in the auto tech shop and classroom to prepare the students to meet the demands of the modern automotive technology workplace.
Essential Tasks And Responsibilities- Plan daily shop projects and create related instructions
- Monitor the activities of small groups of students
- Monitor students as they work to complete daily assignments and tasks based on state standards for the auto tech program
- Provide support needed for students by assisting them in the learning process, based on their individual needs and educational plans
- Maintain individual records for each student as required by district school board policy and state directives
- Maintain discipline within the classroom and shop setting
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Maintain tools and equipment in the classroom and shop setting
- Develop appropriate accommodations and modifications to meet the needs of all students and create engaging activities that break down shop competencies, tasks, and projects for diverse learners.
- Assist students in understanding and working with automotive repair processes, technical equipment, and diagnostic equipment
- Plan, prepare, and organize supplemental course materials if needed
- Work with students to reinforce learning and behavioral objectives of the course
- Document student progress and skill attainment for state-required standards and skills
- Work with business & industry partners to ensure industry standard training techniques are being taught
- Knowledge of the competencies and skills required of students in an automotive technical training program in a high school setting
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
- Ability to establish relationships and effectively communicate with students, staff, and other stakeholders, including business and industry partners
- Ability to organize and coordinate work assignments
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Must be able to obtain a teaching license with a 568 Automotive Service Tech teaching endorsement/technical permit, work experience as an automotive technician and trainer, OR be able to obtain the necessary technical teaching permit as required by Arkansas Department of Education.
