Overview
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administration of ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes in accordance with the prescription of the Radiation Oncologist and is accountable for the simulation of patients in preparation of radiation therapy, basic patient care and education.
RoleAs a Radiation Therapist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care.
Responsibilities- Interprets and implements prescription and treatment plan. Delivers and charts all simulation and treatment summaries.
- Performs simulation procedures, prepares immobilization devices. Obtains accurate measurements, contours, and other information as needed for dosimetry purposes.
- Assesses treatment machines and performs daily equipment warm-up and quality assurance procedures.
- Assists in clinical training and evaluation of student therapists if applicable.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Provides basic patient care during treatment delivery, assists with patient education, observes and monitors day-to-day clinical progress of patients for signs of treatment symptoms.
- Provides accurate daily billing information for all treatment related procedures.

- Radiology Tech License in the state of practice, if applicable.
- Certification in Radiation Therapy from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Bachelor s degree in Radiation Therapy. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment and to handle supplies of varying weights.
- Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including navigating crowded rooms.
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.
- For roles requiring driving:
Ability to drive a vehicle and read signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

ScheduleShift Details: PRN (As needed) One or two 8-hour day(s) per pay period, Monday - Friday. Variable shift start times: 7am, 7:30am, or 8am. Coverage for PTO.
CompensationHourly range: $46.91 - $72.39. Actual rate dependent upon experience.
