The Opportunity

The Senior Civil Engineer will play a key role in delivering high-quality civil engineering solutions while supporting a multidisciplinary team across Montana. This individual will lead project execution from design through construction observation, while mentoring junior staff and managing client relationships. With a balance of technical design, project management, and field work, this position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on both clients and communities.

What

You Will Bring
  • Required Experience: 5–10 years of civil engineering consulting experience with proven project management skills.
  • Active PE license in Montana (or ability to obtain quickly).
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing design plans, specifications, scopes of work, budgets, and cost estimates.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and interact directly with clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Background in large earthwork, restoration, or water/wastewater/stormwater projects.
  • Field-heavy experience in construction observation and inspection.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines (structural, geotechnical, environmental, water resources).

  • Lead and Manage Projects:
    Oversee multiple civil engineering projects at a time, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget are met while maintaining technical quality and client satisfaction.
  • Provide Technical Excellence:
    Deliver high-level design work in Civil 3D, alternative analysis, and planning-level designs, while conducting thorough technical reviews of project deliverables.
  • Mentor and Support Junior Engineers:
    Guide less experienced staff by delegating workloads, reviewing work, and providing day-to-day coaching on projects.
  • Strengthen Client Relationships:
    Serve as a primary point of contact for project updates, ensuring clear communication, responsiveness, and strong client trust.
  • Quality / On-Time Delivery:
    Demonstrate a high level of competence and attention to detail to ensure projects are delivered accurately and on schedule.
  • Meeting Budgets:
    Consistently deliver projects within approved budgets, balancing technical excellence with financial accountability.
