Environmental Professional or Engineering Internship
First Environment, Inc., a leading environmental consulting and engineering firm providing strategic environmental services across the U.S., is seeking a motivated intern to join our diverse team.
This position will be exposed to and support a diverse portfolio of projects related to environmental assessments, site investigation and remediation, regulatory compliance and permitting, air emissions management, natural resource management, environmental litigation support, climate change and sustainability.
Responsibilities- Support a broad range of environmental projects for industry and government projects involving environmental due diligence, site investigation and remediation, environmental permitting, litigation support, greenhouse gas accounting and emissions reduction, renewable fuels, life cycle assessment, climate change, and sustainability.
- Conduct technical research, data review, and prepare supporting documentation to advance project deliverables.
- Provide in-field support to assist with field data gathering and analysis, sampling coordination, data interpretation and technical reporting.
- Support the development of a broad array of technical deliverables through research, document review, and data analysis.
- Work alongside experienced engineers and scientists to gain experience.
- Participate in environmental industry events and technical conferences to advance personal knowledge and professional growth.
- Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master’s degree program in environmental science, geology, or relevant engineering discipline (i.e., chemical, environmental, civil, etc.). Recent graduates also encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with fundamental engineering/scientific principles such as mass balances, process systems, or environmental treatment processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with GIS, modeling software, or programming tools such as Python/R is a plus.
- Strong interest in renewable energy, climate solutions, environmental consulting, and applied engineering.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and learn new technical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
- Structured training in renewable fuels, life cycle assessment, environmental compliance, litigation support, and other technical areas.
- Exposure to real-world consulting projects across government, energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors.
- Mentorship from experienced engineers and technical experts.
- Supporting pathways for technical specialization and professional licensure.
