Are you a Health and Social Care Assessor with a strong background in care and a passion for helping others reach their full potential? You already have the insight, communication skills, and emotional resilience needed to make a life-changing difference in a young person s life.

We are looking for experienced, supportive professionals like you to become Step Forward Foster Carers offering a safe, nurturing home to a young person transitioning from residential care. This is your chance to use your care knowledge and mentoring skills to help shape a young person s future in a family-based setting.

What is Step Forward Fostering?

Step Forward Fostering is a pioneering project that supports young people who have experienced trauma, loss, and instability, helping them move from residential care into a stable, supportive home.

These young people don t just need a place to stay they need someone like you: a consistent adult who understands individual needs, builds trust, and offers the stability they ve often gone without.

As a Step Forward Foster Carer, you ll be part of a fully supported, professional network. You ll never be alone on this journey.

What You ll Receive:

We recognise the commitment it takes to support a young person with complex needs. That s why we offer full emotional and financial support to help you focus on what matters most building a safe and loving home.

Specialist Support:

• Your own Senior Practitioner offering regular guidance and supervision
• A Family Wellbeing Worker to support you and your foster child
• A Hub Carer providing up to 28 days of planned short breaks each year
• 24/7 Out-of-Hours Support
• Peer support through a network of other Step Forward Carers
• Ongoing training in trauma-informed care and understanding neurodevelopmental needs
• Therapeutic and psychological support

Financial Package:

We offer generous fostering allowances so you can provide care without financial strain:

• £1,052 per week while you have a child placed with you (around £54,704 a year)
• £408 per week retainer between placements (up to £21,216 a year)
• Extra allowances for birthdays, holidays, and cultural celebrations
• Tax exemptions specifically designed for foster carers
