Overview
We are seeking to appoint a part-time French Language Assistant on a permanent basis, 12 hours per week (normally across 2 days), on a term-time basis. Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) is currently part of a curriculum area which also includes History and Politics and is led by the Curriculum leader and overseen by an Assistant Principal. The MFL department consists of three specialist teachers supported by three Language Assistants.
We are now looking to appoint a dedicated French Language Assistant to work effectively with students to develop and practise their oral language skills and to contribute generally to the development of the Modern Languages Department. The Department organises annual visits to France, Germany and Spain.

The Department is well equipped with an interactive whiteboard in each classroom, a trolley of netbooks for use within the department and a pc linked to the college IT Learning platform in the Assistants’ rooms. There is also a language lab for which each class is timetabled for use at least once a week. The Department is highly equipped with a range of up-to-date teaching materials.
The successful candidate will join an effective team of linguists who work together on all aspects of teaching and learning. We remain committed to achieving the very best from ourselves and from our students and there are training opportunities allowing staff to update their skills and knowledge. All staff are involved in planning and evaluating what we do.
