Supplier Assistant – International Logistics
Company: FORGE, Burton Upon Trent, England, United Kingdom
Salary: £28,000-£30,000 per annum
Start date:
March 2026 (interviews Jan/Feb)
Hours:
Monday to Friday 8:30-5:30pm
Previous experience in road freight or transport operations required.
ResponsibilitiesManage external transport providers, overseeing compliance, supplier/customer liaison and meticulous record‑keeping, ensuring adherence to transport laws and safety standards for efficient, legal, and cost‑effective operations.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Carrier Management EU, non‑EU and UK markets.
- Knowledge of markets, timings and service levels.
- Freight lading, heavy load, groupage freight, same‑day express, urgent hand carrier.
- Full pricing and good margin negotiations.
- Strong communication skills.
- Follow the company’s supplier selection & approval process and create supplier accounts within the company.
- Continual monitoring of legal compliance using various databases.
- Monitoring compliance to company policy and performance targets.
- Identify areas for development of new suppliers or extension of existing suppliers in line with the strategic needs of the business.
