Job Title: Biochemistry Biomedical Scientist Banding: Band 6 Location: Burton, Staffordshire Start: ASAP Duration: Ongoing Rate: £22.00 – £26.00 per hour Working hours: 37.5 hours per week (24/7 shift system)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biochemistry Biomedical Scientist to join our client’s team in Burton, Staffordshire. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy NHS biochemistry department, supporting a 24/7 shift system. Your expertise will be essential in performing specialist biochemical analyses, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic results.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Biochemistry Biomedical Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting biochemical tests on patient samples, validating results, and providing detailed reports to assist in diagnosis and treatment. You will be involved in analyser maintenance, handling phone requests including add-ons, and contributing to all aspects of the quality management system. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care and uphold high standards of laboratory practice in line with NHS protocols.
Qualificationsand Experience
- HCPC registration (essential)
- Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent
- NHS experience is essential
- Post-registration experience in clinical biochemistry
- Completion of or working towards a specialist portfolio in clinical biochemistry (desirable)
- Experience working within a 24/7 shift system
- Familiarity with analyser maintenance and quality control procedures
- Experience using Roche series analysers and Winpath LIMS (advantageous)
