Assistant Accountant (Fixed-Term / Year-End Support)

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to support our Senior Accountant in the run‑up to and past–31 March year end. This is a hands‑on role within a small and collaborative finance team, playing a key part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes.

• Prepare and complete balance sheet reconciliations

• Perform bank reconciliations and manage associated queries.
• Maintain rent ledger control and resolve related issues.
• Process the weekly rent / housing management system interface
  .
• Run weekly payment batches and process ad hoc bank payments
  .
• Complete cash book postings and maintain accurate financial records.
• Post payroll journals and assist with related accounting entries.
• Manage pre‑paid debit card top-ups and upload credit card transactions
  .
• Prepare and post various month end journals
  .
• Support the preparation of VAT returns (experience desirable).
• Provide general finance support and assist with year‑end tasks as needed.

• Strong finance experience in a similar accounting or assistant accountant role.
• Good understanding of core accounting processes such as reconciliations, journals, and ledger management.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Confidence working independently as well as part of a small team.
• Experience using Unit4 (Agresso).
• Experience preparing or supporting VAT returns

• Proactive, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines.
• A collaborative mindset with a willingness to support colleagues across the finance function.
