Senior Finance Manager - External Reporting

Overview

Senior Finance Manager - External Reporting lead for technical and statutory aspects of Greene King’s financial reporting and compliance, with a focus on external reporting, statutory reporting, delivery of external audit, technical accounting and judgements, and CKA reporting.

• Lead a finance team and be responsible for all technical and statutory aspects of Greene King’s financial reporting and compliance, with a focus on external reporting including statutory reporting, delivery of the external audit, technical accounting and judgements and CKA reporting.
• Build relationships across the finance community, particularly at peer level in the Centre of Excellence, and promote the team’s work across Greene King while driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
• Develop strong relationships with CKA to discuss relevant accounting/statutory items with the CKA Accounting.
• Take ownership of technical accounting areas, draw conclusions, agree positions with external auditors and implement agreed accounting positions.
• Review and set accounting policies and drive compliance across the wider finance function and the business where appropriate.
• Manage all aspects of external reporting from periodic reporting to the group’s parent shareholder to the group annual report and quarterly securitisation reporting.
• Support the statutory accounts manager to deliver all subsidiary statutory accounts.
• Be the main point of contact for the external audit and develop a strong relationship with the External Audit Senior Manager, proactively discussing and resolving issues as they arise.
• Manage IFRS 16 and other PPE-related transactions for the group; be responsible for subsidiary accounting across areas such as IFRS 16, PPE, tax, and intercompany.
• Develop and automate complex and changing reporting requirements, balance best practice with pragmatism and accuracy.
• Drive specific accounting projects as required (e.g., Fixed Assets / IFRS 16 / financial due diligence).
• Support the tax team as required (e.g., CBCR reporting).
• Ensure intercompany balances and distributable reserves are regularly reviewed and trigger dividend or intercompany actions where required.
• Regularly review the group’s organisation structure to identify opportunities to streamline the group’s structure.

• Direct responsibility for the line management and personal development of two Finance Managers.
• Ensure customer-centric focus and high levels of service (internal & external).
• Continue to develop own talents and strengths and address areas for self-development.
• Prioritise workload and allocate accordingly to drive value-add activity, triaging requests as appropriate and setting the agenda for the team.

• Qualified accountant with proven technical experience.
• A strong and inspirational leader with people management skills capable of motivating, leading and influencing teams both under direct control, through the Centre of Excellence and across a matrix structure.
• Ability to form and develop relationships across the wider Greene King business, CKA and with advisors.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, able to explain and present technical items in simple ways.
• Ability to flex with changing priorities.
