Financial Planning & Analysis Manager

Overview

Job Description We are hiring a Financial Planning and Analysis Manager to work in the Budget Operations department at UChicago Medicine. This opportunity offers remote flexibility with 2-3 days onsite at Hyde Park in Chicago, IL and/or Burr Ridge, IL.

• Lead the development and implementation of standard financial planning tools and processes for new business development and acquisitions.
• Update and maintain planning software using current operating results and future assumptions.
• Collaborate with strategic business planning in the analysis of new business plans (internal and external ventures, including Joint Ventures and acquisitions) for inclusion in the long-term financial forecast model.
• Oversee institutional financial planning to be incorporated into the Hospital’s annual operating budget.
• Develop, with Finance and Patient Accounting, the appropriate level of estimated reimbursements for long-term financial forecasts.
• Lead the financial planning team in the development and integration of data analytics and reporting across existing UCM lines of business and new acquisitions and partners, forging a common toolkit of metrics and methodologies.
• Drive the transition and integration of long-range financial planning tools (Strata) and develop procedures to ensure accurate forecasts and projections.

• 5+ years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis.
• Experience working in a healthcare or hospital environment.
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions.
• Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in business, accounting, finance, economics or related discipline.
• Specific expertise in financial statement analysis, financial modeling, new business pro forma development, and performance measurement for health care lines of business (e.g., hospitals, physician practices, ambulatory care centers).
• Demonstrated success in recruiting, retaining, developing, and managing analytic staff in a dynamic, matrix environment with tight time frames and multiple senior leaders.
• Mastery of all phases of the financial project lifecycle, including definition and scope, data source identification, high-impact analysis and model building, and clear communication of results to improve senior leadership decision making.
• Aptitude for analyzing and communicating options for complex business decisions (mergers and acquisitions, new business development, and make/buy alternatives).
• Strong team-building and management skills to assemble the right subject matter experts across lines of responsibility.
• Ability to work independently and in a consultative capacity with physician and business leadership.
• Proven expertise in health care financial data and industry tools (e.g., SQL, SSIS, Python, Excel, Office, Crystal, Spotfire, Cognos, Tableau, Enuff, HCI, cost accounting systems).
• Demonstrated track record of serving as an internal change agent, with experience standardizing, streamlining and improving financial reporting and planning efforts.
