Overview
As a Seasonal Maintenance I – Heart of the City worker, you will assist with park maintenance and safely operate City vehicles and equipment. Burnsville’s Heart of the City is a vibrant 54-acre downtown district featuring Nicollet Commons Park, pedestrian-friendly spaces, and a full calendar of community events.
Our Public Works Department is a dedicated team that works together to make normal happen for those who live, work, and play in Burnsville. Your work will help keep the city running smoothly and efficiently by supporting the operation and maintenance of our infrastructure.
This is a non-exempt (hourly) position with a starting wage of $15.50–$18.49 per hour, depending on qualifications. Both full-time and part-time hours are available. Full-time hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Responsibilities- Assisting with the maintenance of Heart of the City and Nicollet Commons Park for community use and enjoyment.
- Performing daily maintenance of the water feature and irrigation system.
- Assist with mowing, turf maintenance, and weed trimming.
- Contribute to landscaping, park development, and other special projects.
- Safely operating city vehicles and equipment, including mowers, pickup trucks, and small hand and power tools.
- Assisting staff with various park maintenance practices.
- Must be 17 years of age or older.
- A valid Class D Driver’s License or eligibility to obtain one.
- Interest or background in local government and community service.
- Passion for developing your strengths and valuing diverse perspectives.
