Job Overview

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Perianesthesia team at our Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. Our Perianesthesia nursing staff provides care for patients before and after same-day surgery/procedure as well as surgeries that occur before and during admission to the hospital. We provide emotional and educational support with preoperative phone calls, during their stay, and post-operative follow-up phone calls.

Our team of nurses and techs/nursing assistants work with multiple disciplines to provide a patient- and family-centered experience. The Ridges Hospital location promotes the health of the surrounding communities and continues to experience growth.

About Fairview Ridges:

• Ridges Hospital performs approximately 8,000 surgical cases per year in 12 OR rooms using the latest technology.
• Perianesthesia supports 12 PACU bays and 18 pre/post-op bays.
• OR specialty areas include Spine, Orthopedics, OB-GYN, General, ENT, and Urology.
• Proactive pre-admitting department prepares pediatric to adult patients in advance and collaborates with Anesthesia. Child Life is available on site for pediatric patients.
• Procedures range from outpatient to surgical admissions, and include pediatric to geriatric patients.

Schedule: This Perianesthesia nursing position will work 56 hours every two weeks on rotating day/evening shifts, 8-hour shifts (start times staggered between 5:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.). Schedule requires call shifts during the week (1 night per month), weekend call (every 4th weekend), and holiday call rotation. 30-minute call-in time.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient populations. The RN performs these responsibilities in accordance with policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with the health care team and delegates responsibilities as appropriate.

• Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborate with patient, family, and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
• Develop an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition, and other relevant needs.
• Evaluate care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with the patient, family, and health care team to promote partnership-based health care.
• Advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promote a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP).

Required Qualifications:

• MN Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
• 1 year experience as RN in a PACU/ICU/ED or other critical care areas, including experience with advanced airways and telemetry
• Ability to provide written validation of current ACLS, PALS, or PEARS competency or obtain validation within 6 months of hire

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• 1-3 years of RN experience in PACU and/or Perianesthesia
• Perianesthesia certification
