Overview
Fairview has an immediate opening for a surgical technologist in the operating room at the Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN.
ScheduleThis is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period), benefits-eligible opening on 2nd shift, 1PM - 9PM Mon-Fri. This role will be on-call weekends as needed (approximately every 6 weekends, but may vary depending on staffing, such as LOA's, etc.). Weekday call is not expected currently from this role but is subject to change. Holiday rotation is included in this role.
This position offers a $7500 Sign On Bonus and a relocation bonus when applicable.
About Our OR At Ridges- Our 150-bed community-based hospital currently has 11 OR Rooms, averaging over 7,500 cases/year.
- Our OR specializes in areas including:
Spine, Ortho, OB-GYN, General, ENT, Plastic, Urology, and Da Vinci. - Our call response time is 30 minutes and it is a weekend
- Increased flexibility! Limited Call schedule (1 out of 6 weekends)
- Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
- Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
- Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
- Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
- Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
- Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
- Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
- Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
- Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
- Complete one of the following by hire date:
- Military Surgical Assistant; OR
- LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR
- Surgical Technologist training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
- AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
- 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
- Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
- Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
- Ability to work well under a team environment
