Position: Financial Controller / Flexible Hybrid

Location:

South Metro Minneapolis | Hybrid (2 days onsite / can be more if desired).

A growing, well-established professional services organization is seeking a Financial Controller to step into a key leadership role following a planned executive transition. This position reports directly to the CFO and will lead a well-built accounting function supporting a multi-entity operating structure. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Controller who values accuracy, strong controls, and people leadership – and who enjoys partnering with executive leadership to deliver meaningful financial insight.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR/collections, payroll, and month-end close
  • Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Manage cash flow, balance sheet accuracy, and key reconciliations
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with GAAP
  • Support budgeting and forecasting efforts with variance analysis and trend insights
  • Partner closely with the CFO to provide KPIs, reporting, and financial insight to leadership
  • Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and relationships with outside advisors
  • Lead system enhancements, automation initiatives, and ERP optimization
  • Develop, mentor, and manage a team of accounting professionals, fostering accountability and engagement
What They’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required;
    Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • CPA designation highly preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a Controller-level role
  • Proven experience in a multi-entity environment, including consolidations and intercompany accounting
  • Hands-on experience overseeing payroll and financial reporting functions
  • Background in service-based or technology-driven organizations preferred
  • Strong ERP experience required; modern cloud-based systems experience highly valued
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented leader with strong communication and analytical skills

Compensation

Compensation: Target base salary $170,000 to $190,000 with a 20% target bonus
