Job Title: Champions Mentor

Location: Various locations in Burnley, Lancashire and surrounding areas
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st March 2027
Working Pattern: 35 hours per week (Mon-Fri)

Salary: £26,000 - £26,500 per annum
The RoleThe Champions Mentor works to develop professional and supportive relationships with young people and engage them through session delivery and through long‑term mentoring. The role aims to provide a programme of early intervention, mentoring and support for identified young people to guide them away from negative behaviour and its associated outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities Working with Individuals and Groups- Work with individuals and groups from a wide range of backgrounds and communities.
- Adapt communication and delivery styles to suit diverse needs and learning preferences.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and participation.
- Mentor young people on a one-to-one basis through sessions delivered in community settings such as Schools and the Leisure Box.
- Support delivery of the Champions Programme initiatives, ensuring sessions are engaging and accessible.
- Provide guidance, motivation and encouragement to help young people meet personal goals.
- Keep accurate files, records and evidence relating to all programme activities.
- Produce high‑quality output evidence to support monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements.
- Ensure all programme information is consistently recorded using the VIEWS monitoring system.
- Be accountable for achieving agreed outcomes, outputs and personal or team targets.
- Monitor progress and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- Contribute to continuous service development through feedback and reflective practice.
- Attend workshops, conferences and relevant training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Stay updated on sector developments, best practice and community needs.
- Share learning with colleagues to support team development.
- Proactively develop links with local organisations and diverse community groups.
- Build partnerships that support collaborative working and expand programme reach.
- Engage with community stakeholders to identify opportunities for joint initiatives.
- Work closely with Lancashire Police and other key stakeholders.
- Target specific areas and groups to promote community offers and increase participation.
- Maintain effective communication channels to support partnership goals.
- Represent Burnley FC in the Community at multi‑agency meetings and panels.
- Contribute insights, updates and relevant case information to support joint decision‑making.
- Build positive relationships with external partners on behalf of the organisation.
- Liaise with the marketing department to ensure all programmes are promoted effectively.
- Support the creation of promotional materials through varied communication methods.
- Provide accurate information to help raise awareness and increase visibility of services.
- Consider equality, diversity and inclusion across all Social Inclusion activities.
- Focus specifically on improving engagement among females, LGBTQ young people, disabled individuals and ethnically diverse communities.
- Ensure programmes are accessible, inclusive and reflective of community needs.
- Actively promote safeguarding within all programmes.
- Maintain a strong understanding of safeguarding principles and reporting procedures.
- Contribute to creating safe environments for all participants.
- Ensure all programmes and activities are correctly monitored and documented.
- Complete appropriate risk assessments and adhere to safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
