We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed Year 1 Teaching Assistant with strong phonics knowledge and experience to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within our KS1 provision, supporting pupils at a crucial stage in their early reading and writing development.
Working closely with the class teacher, you will help deliver high-quality phonics sessions, provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, and contribute to creating a positive, engaging and nurturing learning environment.

About the Role
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of daily phonics sessions using [Insert Programme e.g., Little Wandle, Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds]
Provide one-to-one or small group intervention to help pupils make accelerated progress in reading and phonics
Assist the Year 1 teacher in delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons across the curriculum
Help create a calm, positive and structured classroom environment
Monitor pupils’ progress and contribute to assessment and planning
Support pupils’ social, emotional and academic development
Foster positive relationships with children, staff and parents
About You
We are seeking someone who:
Has strong, hands-on phonics experience (essential)
Is passionate about early literacy and supporting children’s learning
Has previous experience working in KS1 or EYFS (desirable)
Is patient, proactive and confident in managing groups
Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team
Is enthusiastic, motivated and eager to contribute to school life
Is open to ongoing training and CPD opportunities
