We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary SEN school in Burnley
, starting January
.

Role Details
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:30pm

  • Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

  • Start Date: January

  • Location: Burnley

  • Setting: Secondary Special Educational Needs (SEN) School

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help students access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.

Expectations of Working in an SEN School

Working in an SEN environment is highly rewarding but also requires patience, resilience, and empathy. Students may need support with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour, so a calm and flexible approach is essential. You should be prepared to adapt learning activities, provide one-to-one or small group support, and build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

We Are Looking For Someone Who
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)

  • Is patient, understanding, and passionate about supporting young people

  • Can work well as part of a team

  • Is reliable and committed to making a positive difference
