We are looking for a QA/QC Technician at 106‑8255 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, BC V3N OB9 CAN. Your mission will be to develop, maintain and communicate the laboratory quality assurance system, ensuring that laboratory procedures are performed within specified quality guidelines and that the quality system is continually reviewed, improved and updated. The incumbent will also work to reduce in‑process reworks, improve the accuracy of results, and enhance customer satisfaction.
The role reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Assist with the maintenance of all local quality and safety‑related documents (Procedures, Work Instructions).
- Assist with internal audits as per approved schedules in accordance with pertinent quality documents and prepare all corresponding documents and reports.
- Assist with monitoring the quality activities, implementing agreed corrective action and evaluating its effectiveness.
- Assist with the implementation of internal quality control programs, evaluation of the results and establishment of the internal repeatability and reproducibility of standard methods.
- Assist with data entry of quality control data into spreadsheets and/or databases as applicable.
- Assist with carrying out thorough investigations of quality failures, complaints and make recommendations for correction and improvement as necessary.
- Assist with managing the internal and external calibration program and review records. Verify internal calibrations are carried out as per the requirements of the protocol.
- Assist with internal and external calibration and temperature profile program (syringes, thermometers, coolers, freezers, incubators, etc.).
- Assist with client and certification body audits and maintain the approval status.
- Assist with conducting in‑house training sessions on quality and related topics.
- Assist with closing out any non‑conformances and conduct follow‑up audits.
- Maintain reference standard inventory in LIMS.
- Maintain knowledge of LIMS required to complete job responsibilities.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- At any time, the incumbent must behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner.
- General knowledge of microbiology and chemistry (related degree or job experience) to analyze and interpret quality control data accurately; basic knowledge of food science is required.
- A broad knowledge of laboratory procedures and policies to develop and maintain appropriate quality control systems and employee training programs.
- General knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System to ensure accuracy of client data.
- General knowledge of personal computer software and basic data entry skills to generate special reports and calculate quality control results.
- Planning skills to ensure analysis tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Oral and written communication skills for writing special reports and working with laboratory personnel on quality issues.
- Ability to make decisions regarding the accuracy and validity of testing results and properly investigate problems.
- Provides recommendations to laboratory management regarding changes to procedures or quality control systems.
- Works toward general goals and objectives established by laboratory management, with direction from the QA Manager.
- Analyzes internal quality control data to ensure laboratory results are within established quality guidelines and investigates deviations to develop corrective actions.

- Experience working in a Microbiology or Chemistry lab is strongly desired.
- Frequent contact with vendors and laboratory personnel in all departments to coordinate quality assurance programs.
