Are you looking for a career opportunity that allows you to combine your strong leadership and customer service skills with your passion for the outdoors? Our Parks, Recreation and Culture department is seeking people like you to join the team as an Indoor/Outdoor Leader 3 to help run summer services. This position involves planning, organizing, implementing and leading recreation activities for children and youth;
activities may include hikes, canoeing, orienteering and archery. You will ensure a fun and safe environment while providing instruction to participants on how to safely use equipment and perform activities. Supervising volunteers will also be part of your role.
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by some post-secondary training in specialized community recreation courses, some leadership experience in an area related to the work; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required. The ideal candidate will be an organized individual with strong communication, teamwork and leadership skills, with knowledge of specialized indoor and outdoor recreational activities. You are an enthusiastic and positive role model who has a genuine interest in working with children and youth.
Understanding of safety and risk management procedures is required, along with the ability to work independently and create working relationships with internal and external contacts. A valid Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR
- Level C are required. Any specialized program certification such as an Instructor Certification for Canoeing, Archery, and Wilderness First Aid is considered an asset. A valid class 5 B.C Driver’s License is also considered an asset. Police Information Check may be required.

Hours of workThis is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts are Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and may include evenings and weekends.
