Burnaby Hospital delivers emergency medicine, intermediate‑level critical care, medical imaging, internal medicine, hospitalist medicine, geriatric medicine, neurology, gastroenterology, palliative, psychiatry, oncology, outpatient clinics and an extensive surgery program including anesthesia, orthopedics, general surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, urology and plastic surgery specialties.

Detailed OverviewIn accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to patients in an emergency department.
ResponsibilitiesEducation and Experience
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current registration as a Registered Nurse with the BCCNM. Completion of applicable postgraduate coursework in emergency or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities- Complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate interventions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, public and medical staff.
- Promote person‑centered care, empathy and patient advocacy.
- Integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem‑solve effectively.
