SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST, PUBLICATIONS & INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT
Position Summary This short‑term (approximately 1 year) full‑time role supports a wide range of communications activities including planning, publications, stakeholder relations, industry sponsor ships, consumer awareness and event planning to support BC Housing’s research and education activities around residential construction in British Columbia. The specialist will develop communication materials and strategies for digital and social media platforms, as well as traditional media channels.

Candidate Profile Education & Experience- Advanced diploma in communications, public engagement or a related discipline.
- Considerable progressive experience in strategic communications planning, event coordination, stakeholder relations, and publications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- In‑depth knowledge of communications principles, especially within the public sector.
- Strong research skills to understand BC Housing’s programmes, policies and related legislation.
- Ability to collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to plan and implement strategies, provide advice and solve problems.
- Excellent writing and editing skills for digital platforms.
- Proficient in event management and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience managing social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
- Competence in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- High level of judgement, discretion and decision‑making skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Capacity to work with partners, agencies and contractors.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
- Discretion with confidential information.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
- Good oral communication and presentation skills.
