Position Summary

The Senior Communications Advisor, Social Media & Digital Marketing is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications strategies for BC Housing’s social media and digital marketing in support of BC Housing’s corporate objectives. The role is a key contributor in building awareness of BC Housing’s initiatives, guiding the improvement of digital content strategy, branding, and storytelling. The position collaborates with Communication teams to ensure processes adhere to industry best standards and practices.

Candidate Profile Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, digital communications, or related discipline.
  • Considerable experience in communications or marketing, working with social media and digital content for diverse communities.
  • Considerable experience in an advisory role to other Communications staff, and preferably in the public sector.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of communications theories, principles, and best practices.
  • In‑depth knowledge of social media and digital marketing practices.
  • Excellent organizational, time‑management, verbal, writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate objectives into deliverable social media and digital tactics.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners, and provide strategic communications advice.
  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion awareness and application in decision‑making.
  • Content creation skills for social media with accessibility best practices.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Canva for graphics development.
  • Leadership and advisory skills for communication staff and projects.
  • Attention to detail, confidentiality, and discretion under tight deadlines.
  • Adaptability to evolving social media and digital marketing trends.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
