Overview

This position works in the ECC Aquatic Services organizational unit at Edmonds Community Centre. This is recreational programming work assisting a supervisor in planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating and implementing a variety of specified recreational, social and cultural programs. The work involves supervising program staff; establishing and maintaining liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts, promoting and publicizing interest and participation in program activities, and assisting in the preparation and monitoring of program budgets.

An incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within the limits of established policies, procedures and guidelines. Unusual problems and policy matters are referred to a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of effectiveness and quality of programs provided. Performs related work as required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist supervisor in planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing aquatic, recreational, social and cultural programs.
  • Supervise program staff; establish and maintain liaison with internal and external contacts.
  • Promote and publicize interest and participation in program activities.
  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of program budgets.
  • Apply established policies, procedures and guidelines; escalate unusual problems or policy matters to a supervisor for review.
  • Perform related work as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a community college in a related field, plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the recreational interests, needs and resources of the community served; knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the work performed; teaching methods and group leadership techniques related to the work.
  • Ability to assist in planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing aquatic recreational programs which meet the needs and interests of the community served; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of external and internal contacts and to promote public interest and participation in programs; present ideas and viewpoints effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to hire, train and supervise staff and recruit and train volunteers.
  • Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
  • Police Information Check may be required for this position.
Schedule

Schedule:

80 hours weekly;
Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM (Mutual Agreement between Monday to Sunday, 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM)
