We recognize that people with disabilities have significant gifts and abilities to offer and in your role as Manager of Residential Services you’ll be supporting a team of staff and the people we support to learn, grow and connect with community as we continue to strive towards our vision – a society that includes all people.

JOB GOAL To manage the development and delivery of residential services that meet the personal needs and expectations of people served and their families, while at the same time demonstrating compliance with all relevant internal and external standards articulated through, for example, funding agreements, collective agreements, Health, Employment Standards Act and Work Safe BC. The Residential department works to provide supports that leads to a good life at home, that broaden opportunities for learning and growth, that deepen connections with the community, explore opportunities and novelties, create meaningful and resilient relationships and activate and engage informal support networks.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We’re on the search for someone who is willing to jump into the new and unfamiliar with us as we design and implement a new Residential service model for young adults presented with challenges including aggression. Looking for someone interested in making a difference in the lives of young adults with complex needs. Looking for someone familiar with the challenges and barriers people with disabilities experience.

Someone that can genuinely connect with and facilitate relationships between the people we serve, a new and growing staff team, families, support networks and community partners. Looking for someone comfortable working under stressful conditions including aggression. Looking for someone interested in career advancement at BACI.

Inclusive in this role are the following:

• Provide ongoing leadership and support for a new and growing staff team including regular day-to-day support, coaching and consultation

• Design and develop individual support plans in collaboration with a team of managers and behavourial consultants.

• Evaluate and iterate individual support plans in pursuit of intended impact

• Implement a plan of action to address and support staff experiencing trauma related to aggression in the workplace

• The position works closely with Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) and the Ministry for Children and Family Development (MCFD). Familiarity with funding structures is an asset

• Plan and manage departmental budget including managing service delivery hours

• Lead risk management and mitigation efforts

• The position ensures that the programs operate in a professional and efficient manner in compliance with the Burnaby Association’s policies and philosophies

• Work in partnership with Human Resources department to perform HR functions associated with the operation of this department, including hiring and performance management

• Liaisons with families and external professionals as required

• Participation in ongoing administration of the Association as a member of the Management Team

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

A degree in human services or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years working with and empowering persons who are marginalized, stigmatized and isolated

• Minimum 5 years of experience working with individual with behavourial challenges including aggression

• Minimum 3 years experience working in a management position
