Compensation for this role is $100K - $140K. The role may also be eligible for bonus or commission pay. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set.

As the Director, Canadian Customs Brokerage at RXO, you’ll provide strategic and commercial leadership at our Canadian Customs Brokerage operation. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our Canadian customs services, owning product development, compliance, and customer integration. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on growth, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

What Your Day-to-day Will Look Like
  • Lead commercial strategy and product development for Canadian customs solutions within our Forwarding business.
  • Oversee day-to-day performance of Canadian customs brokerage operation.
  • Collaborate with IT, operations, and sales teams to ensure seamless integration of tech solutions and customer SOPs.
  • Develop and maintain compliance programs aligned with CBSA customs regulations, ensuring audit readiness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Canadian Customs service offerings, supporting customer onboarding and solution design.
  • Build and strengthen customer relationships by engaging with current and prospective clients to identify needs and promote solutions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify new commercial opportunities and expand service offerings.
  • Support and mentor team members to foster a collaborative, high-performance environment.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to enhance RXO’s competitive positioning.
What You’ll Need To Excel
  • 7 years of experience in a Customs organization with at least 5 years of team management and development experience with remote and local employees.
  • In‑depth knowledge of domestic and international customs regulations, policies, and procedures.
It’d Be Great If You Also Have
  • Proven experience registering Business Numbers (BN) and Importer/Exporter accounts.
  • Strong understanding of the CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) system, including CARM‑specific regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to support cases involving the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), including responding to CBSA inquiries and enforcement actions.
  • Experience preparing and submitting B2 refund and adjustment requests.
  • Proficient in preparing release documentation (interim accounting) and final accounting packages.
  • Skilled in calculating and remitting duties and taxes to the Receiver General of Canada.
  • Detailed Canadian operational and customs knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Licensed Customs Broker.
  • Sales experience.
  • Strong strategic planning and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative customer relationships both internally and externally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
