MISSIONThe Director, People Operations is responsible for leading, planning, organizing and delivering effective Strategic People Operations programs to the organization enabling Business Growth and ensuring a workplace culture that reflects OSI’s Values. The role operates as a Strategic Partner, playing an active role with the leadership to ensure the People Operations Strategy, from facilitating change, enabling support to enable Business & Employee growth and driving the People Operations functional Excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIESPeople Operations & Systems
- Lead key People Operations functions, including workforce planning, HR policies, and employee relations across domestic and global teams.
- Ensure the business operations are compliant with labor laws, internal policies, and industry regulations, including personnel security clearance protocols in accordance with the defense industry.
- Strategically assess and advise on total rewards programs, ensuring competitiveness while complying with local and cross-border regulations.
- Maintain clear HR policies, processes, and frameworks that reflect company values and support operational consistency.
- Champion scalable, technology-enabled processes that optimize HR operations, feedback and development (performance) management.
- Equip managers with the knowledge, skills, training, and tools to build and sustain high-performing teams.
- Partner with senior leaders on compensation, performance, and team dynamics, providing frameworks and data to support effective decision-making.
- Lead succession planning and key talent retention initiatives to ensure continuity of leadership and critical skill coverage across Canada and international markets.
- Drive and influence OSI’s culture by leading engagement initiatives that drive a high-performance culture by establishing programs by rewarding, recognizing and developing behaviors across the business.
- Lead Business Expansion from a people perspective across Canada and globally, including workforce availability analysis, Compensation analysis, legislative requirements, incorporating entities and setting up payroll.
- Be the strategic advisor to the leadership on workforce planning, organizational modelling and development, role design and change management to support sustainable business growth.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify talent gaps, career pathways, and succession planning strategies across Canada and global operations.
- Guide employer brand, candidate experience, and hiring practices to consistently attract and retain our talent.
- Develop and implement HR strategies tailored to global operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with international labor requirements.
- Manage international mobility programs, to support cross-border talent acquisition and deployment from our local talent in Canada and our talent in global markets.
- Own the full feedback & development review cycles, including equipping managers to drive continuous employee growth.
- Strategically assess and advise on the organization’s total rewards program, tailoring them to meet the demands of local and cross-border regulations.
- Bachelor’s Degree;
Diploma in Human Resources Management; or other equivalent - Experience:
10 – 15 years in Human Resources management - Experience managing Human Resources in Global Markets
- Experience in Global Workforce Mobility and incorporating in Global Markets
- 8 years of supervisory experience
- Experience of Human Resource management in defense or other highly regulated industries
- Experience in talent management/training and development methodology
- Skills:
Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication and conflict management skills; ability to perform under pressure and work as part of a team as well as independently; ability to problem solve, multitask and be flexible; excellent judgment and professionalism. - Required to obtain security clearance; flexibility to work occasionally varying hours to manage the global workforce.
