Purpose:
Perform routine toxicity analyses as directed by the Supervisor and/or Laboratory Coordinator
Key Accountability/Responsibilities:
Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety programAdhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics PolicyMeet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirementsEmploy proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materialsPerform routine toxicity analyses and/or complex and GLP toxicity analyses in strict compliance to the requirements of the Standard Operating ProceduresResponsible to maintain cultures of bioassay organisms such as, rainbow trout, Daphnia magna, Ceriodaphnia dubia, and various algaeKeep accurate records of all work, ., calibration and maintenance of instruments, water quality measurements, culture mortality and reproduction and test resultsEnter and verify data and complete toxicity test reportsMaintain up-to-date training records and relevant qualificationsParticipate in external & internal method audits and maintains a high level of theoretical & practical expertiseWrite and update Standard Operating Procedures (Test Methods) and Work Instructions for bioassaysDevelop, conduct, and validate toxicity methods for projects involving environmental and industrial projectsOther duties as assignedSkills and Knowledge:
A University Degree or a College Diploma in Sciences, preferably biology, ecotoxicology or related field with special emphasis in the discipline of toxicityTwo (2) years related ecotoxicology or biology laboratory experience is an assetAbility to keep accurate records in order to comply within GLP standardsSelf-directed and proven ability to organize, execute plans and objectivesWorking Conditions:
High level of work production in fast paced lab environmentThe job requires flexible working hours, weekends, overtime and shift workMay involve long periods of standingHazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate PPEBureau Veritas is proud to be committed to providing fair and competitive pay.
The salary range for this role is $22.00 - $26.90 an hour.
Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
