Summary

This position is responsible for providing support to the Manager of Finance and Director of Finance, including but not limited to financial analyses, financial close, audit preparation, process improvement and expense review.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Leads month-end financial close, prepares journal entries, and assists the Manager of Finance in reviewing routine journal entries and preparation of monthly financial summaries.
  • Leads year-end financial close and prepares significant accounting estimates and annual financial statements.
  • Leads financial audits and liaises with external auditors.
  • Assists the Manager of Finance in overseeing and completing invoice approvals.
  • Performs researches and financial analyses and provides recommendations to support organizational strategies and initiatives.
  • Identifies and provides comprehensive recommendations on areas of improvement for finance processes and oversees implementation of the improvements, which would involve deep dive of the existing processes.
  • Assists in the annual and mid-year budget process.
  • Provides support, training and mentorship to other finance staff, including development of training material to enhance understanding of financial concepts, policies and systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications

An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Education and Professional Certifications
  • Chartered Professional Accountant
Experience And Knowledge
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial terms, concepts, and accounting principles.
  • Experience performing complex financial analyses.
  • Proven records with as well as a passion for process improvement.
  • Proficiency with financial systems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications. Intermediate Excel skills.
