Job Description
AECOM is looking for a Geoscientist who can be based in Burnaby, Victoria, or Kelowna:
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a team of hydrogeologists, geologists, geochemists, geotechnical engineers and groundwater modellers on projects based throughout Canada and internationally.
Support diverse projects in remediation, mining, civil infrastructure, solid waste and water supply.
Perform quality checks on geological and environmental sampling data.
Interpret surficial and bedrock geology in three dimensions.
Support interpretation and reporting of groundwater flow and quality data.
Support development of 3D geological models using borehole, geological map, geophysical, soil/rock chemistry and water quality data.
Produce 2D cross sections, volume estimates, 3D surfaces and visuals for various end uses.
Support implementation of geological and hydrogeological assessments involving drilling, well installation, permeability testing, soil and water sampling, borehole instrumentation and management of contractor.
Based in Burnaby or Victoria with flexible work options.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
B.Sc. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental or related engineering discipline.
2+ years of geological experience in mining, civil infrastructure, oil and gas or environmental industries.
Preferred qualifications:
2+ year experience in soil or rock core logging and/or geological mapping experience.
2+ year supporting geological modelling or groundwater modelling.
Basic skills in programming languages such as Python or R
Experience using database software packages such as EQuIS, Open Ground, ac Quire. Educational background or experience interpreting Quaternary geology in Canada or US.
Eligible to register as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer with EGBC upon meeting work experience requirements.
Working knowledge of relevant provincial, federal, and municipal acts and regulations in British Columbia and Alberta.
Additional Information
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $60000 to $85000.
