Job DescriptionThe Water Business Line in Victoria, BC is actively seeking an enthusiastic Senior Civil‑Municipal Engineer. You will lead the design and delivery of critical municipal infrastructure projects, focusing largely on water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
Responsibilities- Lead the planning, design, and construction of municipal infrastructure projects including water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance facilities.
- Design systems associated with lift stations, pump stations, and other mechanical equipment for water and wastewater utilities.
- Serve as Engineer‑of‑Record on projects of all sizes.
- Lead, manage, and mentor junior and intermediate engineering staff, developing technical and project‑management competencies.
- Lead design and field‑inspection teams during construction.
- Oversee contract administration, quality control/assurance, safety policy compliance, and environmental compliance during construction.
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
- Prepare project specifications and contract documents.
- Manage client communication and contract negotiation; coordinate with regulatory agencies; plan, budget, and schedule projects.
- Lead and coordinate multi‑disciplinary projects.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of related experience in civil engineering, design, and construction inspection, with 4+ years focused on municipal water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- PEng or eligible for registration as P.Eng. in British Columbia.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Attention to detail and understanding of the broader picture.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Effective communication with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
- Comfortable working in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
- Experience in project management is a benefit.
- MMCD Contract Administration certification is a benefit.
- Working knowledge of water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment.
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $115,000 to $160,000.
