Position: Geotechnical Engineering Intern - Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers - Summer 2026
Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opening for a dynamic Geotechnical Engineer Intern in our growing Geotechnical Group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.
District Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety.

Location
This position is based out of our office in Oakville, ON or Burnaby, BC.
Responsibilities
Providing project support during the proposal/bid and construction phases; working with team members to complete engineering analyses in support of innovative and cost-effective design solutions to geotechnical problems and challenges.Design of Temporary structures in support of ongoing constructionConducting engineering design and analysis using geotechnical data for slope stability, settlement of structures, support of excavation, foundations, groundwater flow, and other civil engineer projectsProducing engineering reports, drawings, and detailed calculation packages.Qualifications
Ability to travel as neededAbility to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August 2026), or a longer periodCurrently pursuing an undergraduate (minimum 3rd year civil engineering) or graduate degree in geotechnical engineering or related degree.Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environmentsHighly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiativeStrong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first timeDemonstrated commitment to ethics and integrityPassion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurtStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsTeam player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectivesStrong organization, time management, and attention to detailOther Requirements:
