Position Summary

Acuren is seeking a professional and motivated Health & Safety Coordinator to support operations at Parkland Refinery in Burnaby, BC.

Position Details

Position Type: Full-Time Position

Location: Must be local to Burnaby, BC.

Start date: March 2026

Rotation/Shift: 4 days on/3 days off - 10 hrs. per day (40 hrs./week at ST time with potential for OT).

Hourly Rate: CA $45.00 - $55.00/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the coordination, and administration of safety on project site.
  • Responsible for carrying out inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively promote and reinforce a strong safety culture through toolbox meetings, site orientations, and ongoing safety awareness initiatives.
  • Responsible for ensuring all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are properly maintained, routinely inspected, certified as required, and readily available for use; coordinate necessary repairs or replacements and maintain accurate inspection and maintenance documentation.

  • Knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations; and be an effective negotiator, that uses logic and reason to persuade and influence others to find the solutions that everyone will accept.
Requirements
  • NCSO certification required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a field-based safety role within an industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proven experience participating in safety management processes, including safety committees, working groups, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

  • Heavy industrial operations experience is considered a strong asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct hazard assessments, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other safety management or reporting systems, with strong overall computer competency.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with refined interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Ability to influence and engage teams at all levels to foster a proactive and positive safety culture.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily field-based role within a heavy industrial or construction site environment.

  • Regular exposure to outdoor elements, varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and other industrial hazards.

  • Frequent walking, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.

  • Ability to access elevated work areas, confined spaces, and active construction zones as required.

  • May require extended hours, shift work, or weekend work during peak project phases or turnarounds.

  • Travel to various job sites may be required.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on site.
