About the Role

The Director, Student Affairs is responsible for providing strategic, administrative, and financial leadership, direction, and oversight for all aspects of student affairs and outreach programs in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology (FCAT). The Director leads the development and implementation of strategies of faculty-wide initiatives and activities, including outreach programs, to engage, recruit, advise and retain undergraduate and graduate students (domestic and international) in the faculty.

The Director manages the evaluation, assessment, integration, and effectiveness of student support and outreach programs, enrolment, and recruitment strategies. The Director manages and provides strategic direction, training and support to the Faculty's Student Affairs team, provides leadership to the Dean, Associate Dean, senior leadership, faculty members and staff regarding University and FCAT policies and procedures on a range of student affairs issues;

plans, develops and monitors the Student Affairs budget; and provides options for dealing with student affairs matters, to ensure consistency of practice across the faculty.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education, Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline with seven years of relevant management experience in strategic academic planning, student development, student engagement and retention, outreach, academic advising and other related student affairs experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of primarily undergraduate (and graduate) program regulations and processes, and interdisciplinary programming and related principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of university policies and regulations related to academic advising, enrolment management and student services.
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills with proven experience in change and conflict resolution, and effectively leading a team through change.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data into reports and presentation, with a strong working knowledge of Tableau and People Soft.
  • Ability to make suitable travel arrangements to various work locations.
