Overview
We are seeking a motivated individual who is passionate about working with the community to join the team at the Burnaby Village Museum as a Recreation Leader
1. Typical duties in this position include providing customer service, resolving conflicts and situations involving patrons, enforcing departmental and facility policies, procedures, admission controls, and ensuring required standards of behavior, safety and security are maintained. This position involves record keeping, preparation of reports related to activities and inventory, program creation for children ages 6-12, promotional information, supports programming which includes and is not limited to the following:
- camps
- access
- assisting in the training and direction of staff and volunteers
Qualifications
Qualifications include completion of two year Community Recreation program from a recognized Community College. Preferably some related experience with delivering cultural programs. Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses in recreation or culture and sound related community recreation or cultural experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain working relationships, along with the ability to organize and promote programs for children ages 6-12.
Ability to participate in the recruitment of and give guidance and instruction to part-time staff and contractual instructors and to recruit, train, direct and evaluate volunteers. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia, along with a valid First AID Certificate and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate – Level C is required. Please note that a Police Information Check is required for this position.
Rate
Pay Rate: $29.48 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)
LocationLocation: Burnaby Village Museum
Hours of WorkHours of Work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts are scheduled around the City of Burnaby School District Pro-D Days, Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Camps. Hours depend on program needs and responsibilities.
