Purchasing Coordinator
Status: Regular, Full time
Location: Burnaby, British Columbia
Job Description About the RoleThe Purchaser is a central operational role responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels, supporting six core branches, and helping coordinate the flow of materials across a wider network of 15 total locations. You will use Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) daily to manage replenishment settings, correct errors, and maintain clean, accurate system data.
Key Responsibilities Inventory & Replenishment- Manage purchasing and stock replenishment for six core locations
- Coordinate inter‑branch transfers across 15 total locations
- Maintain accurate purchasing metrics in Epicor Prophet 21 (P21)
- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment to avoid outages or excess inventory
- Identify trends, adjust settings, and manage stock write‑downs where required
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, returns, and discrepancies
- Manage bulk supplier purchases, including assessing volume opportunities, aligning buys with inventory strategy, and coordinating distribution across multiple branches
- Resolve issues such as shortages, late shipments, and product defects
- Work closely with sales, operations, and warehouse teams to understand demand, project needs, and customer requirements
- Support internal stakeholders with product sourcing, substitutions, and alternative solutions
- Assist with error correction to help reduce discrepancies, drive system accuracy, and improve process consistency
- Develop and maintain an understanding of key product lines to support effective purchasing decisions
- Monitor manufacturer updates and changes impacting stocking strategy
- Experience in purchasing, supply chain, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or related environments
- Wholesale electrical industry experience is strongly preferred
- Strong communication and organization skills—able to coordinate across multiple teams and locations
- Negotiation instincts and confidence working directly with suppliers
- A self‑starter mindset with the ability to manage priorities in a multi‑site workflow
- Intermediate or stronger experience with ERP inventory management, ideally Epicor Prophet 21
- Comfort analyzing data, spotting inconsistencies, and improving system accuracy
